As the Sun Goes Down SOLD

Mixed Media painting on a deep edged box canvas. 

This painting was inspired from the deep orange tones of the sunset contrasting against the dark shoreline.  The night was so still and you could just hear the sound of the tide lapping onto the beach.  It felt surreal and I felt I needed to paint the scene and capture the harmony of the evening. 

I have used acrylic paint and added shale that I collected off the beach.  I painted over the shale as the shoreline is dark as the sun goes down and so you have a tiny piece of the West Cumbrian coast within your painting.

I worked from a photograph and the image in my mind inspired by another beautiful West Cumbrian sunset over the Solway.  The colours were stunning and I just had to capture the moment on canvas.

The edges of the canvas are also painted.
